Hundreds of distressed migrants have been safely taken ashore in Lampedusa.
Resqship made this disclosure in a post on its verified Twitter handle.

The post reads: “#Nadir is supporting hundreds of people in distress in several operations. “The horizon was full of lights, there were people in distress everywhere,” is how the crew described it. Last night, our crew encountered 2 boats in danger of capsizing, with approximately 100 people.

“Due to the unstable situation and several medical cases, our crew took them all on board and were able to bring them safely ashore in Lampedusa this morning. In the interim, the #Nadir, together with the #Aurora @seawatch_intl , stabilised many more boats.

Already yesterday afternoon, our crew took on board 100 people in distress on the instructions of the Italian coast guard. They were taken over by the coast guard in the evening and brought to Lampedusa, which allowed our crew to continue helping throughout the night.”
