International Organization for Migration (IOM) Director General-Elect, Amy Pope, says addressing the needs of displaced individuals requires a thorough assessment of their unique circumstances.

She disclosed this via a post on her Twitter handle.

Amy Pope noted that by understanding their challenges, “we can effectively provide humanitarian aid and essential services in a timely manner.

“As urban contexts become increasingly impacted by migration and displacement, it can be challenging to provide shelter during emergencies.@UNmigration has adapted by developing individualized solutions aligned with local laws.”

She further said: “Our partnership with Airbnb.org is invaluable. Having served migrants for 70+ years, we recognize the urgent need for safe, dignified & temporary shelter during emergencies. Through this collaboration, Hosts on the @Airbnb platform can support those in need.

For example, by working w/ Airbnb.org we have been able to provide 175,000+ nights of safe & dignified accommodations for individuals fleeing Ukraine across 112 cities in 7 countries, including Czechia, Hungary, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania & Slovakia.”
